 The following are the results of Duraluxe's scratch tests according to pencil hardness

1. Scope of test:
The scope of the present testing report is to supply details regarding the hardness of different coating products used with the sublimation process using the pencil hardness test (according to: UNI EN 13523-4:2001).

2. Date of execution of tests: 04/20/2011

3. Description of samples:
The samples tested are aluminum Qpanels pretreated and powder coated with different
powders which are part of the class 7XX (textured powders with different finish).

4. Testing apparatus:
Testing apparatus complete of :
     a. Elcometer 501, matricolaH501 —1;
     b. Set of pencils of different hardness Faber-Castell 501, code T50115771;
     c. Pencil sharpener from 6H a 2B, code T501190452;
     d. Pencil sharpener from 3B a 6B, code T501190451;
     e. Abrasive paper.


5. Tests executed:
Before the test the samples have been kept at controlled conditions for 24 hours in a room at (70 ± 2) °F e (50 ± 5)% of relative humidity. We then have tested the hardness looking to intentionally scratch the layer of powder coating using pencils with increasing hardness (in order: 2B, B, HB, F, H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H and 6H) following the normative UNI EN 135234:2001. The choice to start from the pencil with hardness 2B is not accidental, but determined the fact that the pencils 6B, 5B, 4B e 3B do not occur any damage to the surface of Decoral powder coating that need to be tested. The hardness of the powder is determined by the hardness of the pencil which did not mark the layer the powder.

Here below, just as example, we show some samples after the tests.
On samples we wrote all the codes of the pencil used in the test.

6. CONCLUSIONS:
For the samples "DS 7XX" and "DS 7XX S" it was possible to determine with certain
accuracy the value of hardness (these powder coatings have a light texture).

For the remaining samples (DS 7XX H, DS 7XX I e DS 7XX SH) we can confirm that:
     -all the used pencils DID NOT make any visible marks;
     -the special surface finish, very textured, seams to preserve from scratches the
      powder coating layer, confirming a much higher hardness;


Anti-Graffiti test results

Another unique characteristic of Duraluxe panels is their resistance to graffiti, markers, lipstick and more. The toughness of Duraluxe panels is due to the special formulation of the coating we use, a special formulation that makes the panels impenetrable to external pollutants, such as dirt and permanent markers / inks. While the cleaning of surfaces sublimated with regular powders would leave stains or blotches, panels with Duraluxe anti-graffiti / UV resistant properties can be cleaned easily with no traces of pollutants.

1. Product features
The main characteristic of the anti-graffiti powder 11X-XXX-YYYY (previous code: DS-0XXXA) is the high resistance to contamination: a special formulation makes products coated with this powder impenetrable to external pollutants, such as dirt and permanent markers/inks. While the cleaning of surfaces painted with regular powders would leave stains or blotches, surfaces painted with anti-graffiti powder will be cleaned easily with no traces of pollutants. These powders are all for sublimation and they are typically smooth and glossy.

- Application methods and curing conditions:

Powder available for corona charging application. Curing time and temperature:

- 25 minutes at 195°C ñ 383°F (metal temperature). 
- 20 minutes at 200°C ñ 392°F (metal temperature). 
- 15 minutes at 205°C ñ 401°F (metal temperature). 

Recommended thickness: 60-80 micron.

3. Variants and special formulations
There are several variants of this series. This powder can be produced:
- Clear or colored opaque;
- Super durable, Class 2;
- Low curing;
- Antimicrobial.
 

4. Anti-graffiti test
The anti-graffiti properties of this series of powders are tested according to the international standard UNI 11246, which defines the method and the procedures to determine the resistance to contamination. Some of the steps of the procedure are shows below:

5. Anti-graffiti test with colored powders
The anti-graffiti proprieties are also tested soiling with several staining agents some sample panels painted with DS-0821-SA (colored powder suitable for sublimation) and with PU RAL shades. The steps of this test are: 
- Soiling of the pattern with: lipstick, marker, N50 pentel, acrylic spray; 
- Drying of the staining agents in an oven at 80°C (176°F) for 120í; 
- Conditioning, at 23°C (73.4°F), for at least 120í with relative humidity at 50%; 
- Removing of the staining agents with commercial ethylic alcohol; 
- Removing of the staining agents with a mixture etasol/MEK 70:30. Test on DS-0821-SA

6. Resistance to chemicals (Acetone)
The resistance to chemicals has been tested for this series. A 1 ml amount of commercial acetone* has been poured on the surface of a sample coated with PE411 + DS- 0810SA; after 10 seconds the solvent has been wiped with a soft cloth. The test has been simultaneously carried out on a standard white polyester. The test has shown how a standard powder-coating product lose gloss when touched by aggressive solvents like acetone, leaving a stain where the drop was, and damaging the surface of the sample. The sample coated with the antigraffiti product DS-0810SAinstead was totally unchanged, with no loss of gloss and no stains left in the area of the test, proving exceptional resistance to aggressive solvents.
